Katie Pittser
Class of 2010
English-Journalism and Professional Writing major with a minor in Creative Writing.
Katie has written for the Pioneer Frontier since her freshman year in 2005. She was a staff reporter for sports and lifestyles, working her way up the ladder to editor of lifestyles with a monthly column. After a short break from Tusculum, attending the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Katie returned as the staff reporter for news. This year, Katie is the sports editor for the Pioneer. She has also joined the staff at The Newport Plain Talk, hometown newspaper, as the lifestyles reporter.
She plans to graduate Tusculum in 2010 pursuing her writing career in journalism. Katie enjoys writing creative fiction stories taken from her life experiences. She enjoys reading in her spare time and actively working as a raft guide on the Big Pigeon River during the summer season. She also enjoys other extreme sports like snowboarding and kayaking. Growing up in the Smoky Mountains, Katie spends time hiking and camping while taking various photos of her home.
